An International Woman of Courage

An Irish Loreto sister who has worked for many years in conflict-torn South Sudan, Orla Treacy IBVM has been awarded an International Women of Courage award by the US State Department. This annual award is given to women who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women's empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice.
