We join the worldwide Church and especially our Latin American sisters and brothers in giving thanks for the life, legacy and heroic, selfless example of Archbishop Oscar Romero - henceforth Saint Oscar Romero! May his canonisation spur us all to deepen our commitment to working against all forms of poverty and injustice.
This painting - The Great Amen - by Peter Bridgman, showing Rutilio Grande SJ alongside his friend Archbishop Romero has just been installed in Stamford Hill parish church. Rutilio's assassination, for having championed the causes of the poor, was a key factor in Romero's inner journey and conversion.
