Introducing the 30th successor to St Ignatius!

This morning the 36th General Congregation elected Fr Arturo Sosa Cabascal, of the Jesuit Province of Venezuela, as the 31st Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits)

You can read more about him and see photos and videos from today on the General Congregation's dedicated website. The Jesuits in Britain have also described the process of election and added a video of Fr Arturo on their website.

The Ignatian family in the UK sends congratulations to our Jesuit friends and brothers, and prayer and congratulations to Fr Arturo, with gratitude for his generous acceptance of this huge responsibility. We continue to pray for the work of the General Congregation, as it tackles matters of governance, direction and the Society's mission and response to the world's needs.
