Mary Ward (1585-1645), pioneer and founder of the Congregation of Jesus and the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary is buried in the graveyard of Osbaldwick church in Yorkshire, her home county. Every year Evensong is celebrated there in her honour on the Sunday between the 23rd and 30th January, the anniversaries of her birth and death.
