Jesuits in Syria

A gunman in the Syrian city of Homs has shot and killed Dutch Jesuit Fr Frans van der Lugt. Citing a source in the Homs governorate, his death was reported by Syria's state news agency SANA, which said he had died immediately after being shot. The motive for the attack was unclear.

May he, and all who have died in this conflict, rest in peace.

Tonight (Tuesday 8th April) Farm Street Jesuit Church in central London is hosting a Lenten Evening of Reflection and Witness to raise awareness and funds for the Syrian refugee relief through Aid to the Church in Need. The church is also hosting a new Syria Shrine at its Seven Dolours Altar to pray for peace in Syria, for its many refugees, and for Italian Jesuit Fr Paolo Dall’Oglio SJ, who has been missing since July 2013.
